What is Ultrasound?

Ultrasound, also referred to as sonography, is a medical imaging technique that uses high-frequency sound waves to create high resolution images of the inside of the human body. It is painless and uses no radiation. It is the medical imaging of choice for diagnosing and evaluating many medial conditions such as gallstones, ovarian cysts, breast abnormalities, plaque in arteries, and prostatic disease. Most sonograms take only about 15 to 20 minutes to perform.
